PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Neumann graduated from the Johannes Gutenberg University School of Medicine in Mainz, Germany in 1976. He obtained his PhD in medical aerospace engineering from the Technical University Munich and Institute of Aerospace Medicine of the German Air Force. Postgraduate training in radiology took place at the Johannes Gutenberg University Medical School and the Johns Hopkins University Medical School. Postgraduate fellowship was taken at Harvard Medical School in computerized tomography and ultrasound. Dr. Neumann is board certified in diagnostic radiology in the United States and general radiology in Germany. He has held teaching positions at Stanford University Medical Center and University of California San Francisco Medical Center and was the director of outpatient MRI services at the San Francisco Magnetic Resonance Center from 1988 - 1993, specializing in body as well as bone and joint MRI.
Prior to joining Desert Medical Imaging in March 2002, Dr. Neumann also held staff appointments at Desert Regional Medical Center, Eisenhower Medical Center and John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital. He maintains an academic affiliation with the University of California San Diego as clinical professor in the Department of Radiology. Dr. Neumann has coauthored 65 peer review journal articles and five book chapters, and has given over 75 invited lectures and presentations at scientific meetings worldwide in orthopedic and body MRI as well as abdominal ultrasound and cancer imaging.
